CTC tea is the method of processing black tea in which the leaves are passed through a series of cylindrical rollers with hundreds of sharp teeth that crush, tear, and curl the tea into small, hard pellets. This tea is mostly consumed by adding milk and sugar. This tea is mostly made in the plain areas of Assam and West Bengal in North India and in South India CTC teas are generally graded in three categories, Leaf Fanning, and Dust. The leaf grade or the bolder CTC are graded in BOPL, BOPSM and BP. The fanning is mostly graded in BPSM, PF and OF. The Dust grades are PD and Dust.

CTC teas have a generic taste and produces dark, strong liquor have a distinct astringent flavor. If you want to have masala chai or want to add milk to tea, then CTC is the best. CTC teas do give the right flavor but they are much affordable.

CTC tea manufacturing process is a faster way of producing a standard quality of tea.The resultant tea is an even output of small brown pellets. Great care is taken in rolling and handling the leaves because they are delicate and susceptible to adulteration and damage.
